a little plaid dress

I thought it would be fun to try to sew a dress from a pattern. I normally do without. It did not go so well. First off, it took me a whole day. It drove my kiddos nuts, but I was not going to let this little dress concur me. Looking back it may have been better just to put the dress down and walk away and come back later. I thought a pattern was suppose to make it easier. Well, I finished just in time to sit down and watch a movie with my husband.

This is the first time I made sleeves. I think they turned out well. The neckline is a bit off, but by that point I just wanted it done. By the way, the etsy shop I mentioned earlier, is handmade little girl clothing. Ha, this definitely would not make the cut.

The back is tied with a ribbon. The pattern did not call for this, but when my daughter first tried on the dress it did not fit over her head. Are you feeling my frustration? Anyway, I am finished! My favorite part is the little pockets, simply because Ellie loves anything with pockets.

such a good yesterday

Yesterday I received my Domino mag! I heard all the raves from fellow bloggers that it was just fabulous, but lately in the magazine department I have been let down. I receive a whole lot of magazines in the mail and, well, lately I just haven't been that inspired by them. There may have been a good article or two, but nothing that sucks me in for days. I don't watch much tv so magazines and books are my outlets. Domino rest assured you did not disappoint. You were everything I hope you would be and more! Thank you.

I was looking at one of my favorite blogs yesterday and came across this collection. The clothes are amazing, way out of my price range, but still amazing. What I loved most was the photography. It lures you in. It made me want to be so stylishly lovely as that girl. Now that's good photography.

Remember this skirt I wanted to try to make? Well, I made it yesterday. I couldn't find any similar fabric locally, but I loved what I choose. It works perfectly with that little sweater. Most importantly my little girl said she loved it. Sorry for the delay on the two following pictures, the hubby just rescued me.

Finally I rounded out the night with our small group, it's basically a dinner group from our church. We talked, we laughed. we recounted old stories and I received a great new recipe. It's for honey butter. I want to try it one morning with warm biscuits, yum. Let me know if you want to try it and I'll post it. You will not be disappointed.

Well, I hope you had a great yesterday and better yet I hope you have a great today!

hello!

My hubby thought it would be funny to tuck my son's shirt into his pants, it kind of was! It's one of those pictures you show the future spouse. As for my daughter, she's sporting the new pants and shoes we got her.

I am feeling a little blue...

and orange. This weekend my husband took me to my first Auburn football game, he normally only takes the boys. We lost, barely, but I still had so much fun. Ellie and KJ stayed the weekend with my parents. They too had a blast. With all the blue and orange in the stadium I decided it was only right to pay homage in my own little way. You'll get them next time boys!

I want to live here

I am in love with this house. I found it while browsing the Nesting blogs on Cookie mag, one of my all time favorite magazines. The house in Mexico is 1800 square feet, this is the perfect size for my family of four.

I love the selves. The warm wood color is gorgeous. This would be a perfect place to put my husbands many books.

The dinner ware all stored on the simple shelving is something I would love to do in my next house. I love the beams on the ceiling, the stools, and the cabinetry is stunning.

This is how I want my little boys room to look when he's done with the crib. It's a room that could grow with them for years. I love the beds. I am not sure, but they look a lot like the one I want to get for KJ from ikea.

This craft area does not only look lovely, but also seems to be highly functional. As for right now my work area for sewing and creating is the dining room table and my small desk in the corner. It works, but someday I would love to have a space of my very own. Did you notice the sewing machine cover under the desk? That little bird would definitely add style to my sewing machine that now sits in the corner of my dining area. I too have a thing for birds it will be the mascot for our new etsy store, so I was so excited when I found this lovely ladies etsy shop. You should also check out her blog, it is full of inspiration and beauty. I think we would make great friends!

I love my kiddos

Today I went J.crew. I heard they were having an additional 25% off sale items, so I went to see if they had anything I could not live without, haha. Well, I didn't find anything for myself, but I did find some fantastic items for my daughter, Ellie, from crewcuts. These are some of what I picked up...

I also fell in love with this skirt, but decided against. I think will rather try to make one myself.

Don't worry my little boy did not get away empty handed he got these very cool shoes. He was so excited, at least as excited as a 18 month old can get about shoes.

Okay, so sister got a matching pair too. We got them both in grey.

Act of Congress

Act of congress is a very talented bluegrass band from Birmingham, Al. Not one of those honky dory bands, but one that is, well, just cool. You should definitely give them a listen. I hope you love them as much as I do!

A fall day... well, almost

I am in need of fall weather. Well, yesterday my husband and I took the kiddos to the zoo and I actually got to wear my blue jeans. Yeah! As for today it's suppose to get back up into the 80's. Mind you yesterday was still only in the low 70's, but I consider that a taste of heaven living here in Alabama. All summer I wear dresses, so I am now ready to pull on a pair of jeans, sweater, and my lovely boots. Every season I save up for one splurge to go with my many Target purchases, this season I am going with...

joe's petite provacateur jeans. As for the sweater I will go with this...

the cowl neck sweater. First I will wait for it to go on sale, because everything eventually goes on sale here.

These are similar to one pair of my boots, but mine are Nine West and I did not pay nearly this much! These boots are gorgeous none the less. Fall, I am ready and waiting.

hope...

Ike has broken my heart. There are many of you in the blogging world that reside in the Houston and surrounding areas of Texas. You have inspired me to start this little blog of mine. I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you all and all those others that have also been affected. Latch on to hope and remember this too shall pass.

Have a great weekend, but first...

Oh, how lovely is Ina Garten's Manhattan apartment. You may know her as the Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network. I found these pics while browsing House Beautiful. I absolutely love Mrs. Garten's show, recipes, and now her home.

I absolutely love the orange drapes! If only I had a place for them. Could you not imagine sitting at that gorgeous table, flipping through your favorite magazine, while every once in awhile taking a look out of that breath taking window. Would that not be just fantastic.

In the article Mrs. Garten mentioned how she found these sofas in Belgium. Maybe one day I too will find that perfect sofa in Belgium. Well, a girl can dream can't she? I also really like how the logs in the fireplace are stacked ever so neatly. This definitely appeals to my need for things to look orderly.

The painted cabinets, the dark stone counter tops, the flowers, and that perfectly placed window just may make doing the dishes not so bad. The only thing that could possibly make this kitchen any better would to have Mrs. Garten herself giving me lessons in cooking. I know my hubby would be so very grateful!

Today is the day

I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile now. We do have a family album blog and my husbands photography blog, but not one that i actually do. So i have decided to give it a go! I do hope people view it and leave comments, simply because comments are fun. I am a stay at home mom to my three year old girl Ellie and my one year old boy Kellen Jacob Jr. I have been been married for four wonderful years. Yes, if you do the math we got pregnant only after two months of marriage. I sure do love surprises. A very good friend and I are stepping out in faith and starting our very own Etsy shoppe. Handmade girl clothing and a few other whatnot's. We are still about a month out, but I will blog more on this later. I hope to update daily, well, except for maybe weekends. I will share what I love, whether it be home design, fashion, family, or whatever else that strikes my fancy. I really hope to use this as my creative outlet, my husband is about done with the many changes I do to our home. I hope you enjoy!
