Finding Peace

{via}

Something about this image makes me stop and stare. The neutral palette, the woodwork, that door, and of course the mix of modern and traditional are all things I adore. Oh, and lets not forget the the thick floor boards, just beautiful. The simplicity of the space makes me yearn for the simple things. I think this would be a perfect spot to catch up on some blogging and then grab a nice hot cup of tea and curl up with a good book.

I know I have been scarce from blog land and I have a few emails to answer also. I do apologize and hope to catch up on both very soon. I want to thank you all for your more than generous comments as of late. I read every one and they brighten my day. It seems with my desire for simplicity I become a chaotic mess. Thankfully I know this too shall pass and I will find my peace...

Worry never solves tomorrow's problems. It only robs today of its peace.

LUXE

Interior Designer Jamie Herzlinger was kind enough to send photos from her Casa Blanca design over my way. This place is sublimely luxe in every way. I am sure I would feel rather glamorous coming home to this every day. I love how the red front door and black and white striped drapes set the tone for the whole home before you even enter, love that.

The Office

I know I mentioned a home office redo quite awhile ago. Well, we also did one quite awhile ago I just haven't posted it yet. So this is it, nothing too fancy, but practical. This space is right off our kitchen and is where I blog and where we meet our most wonderful clients. The board over the desk was completely inspired by Erika's office inspiration board although mine was done on the cheap. I simply used 2 of the largest cork boards I could find at Walmart and stapled them together in the back. I then used a cream linen to cover. I am also planning on repainting the desk. It was not a great paint job in the first place and with the new sprayer it will be a cinch to do. I am thinking of using Rosemary by Sherwin Williams. It is the same green that Erika used for her kitchen cabinets and I am rather in love. So I guess I should say a huge thank you to Erika for all her help. She is so good that she can help me without saying a word, ha!

A Little Bit of This and That

I realized I never posted my invites to my 30th birthday party so I thought I would share. I think they would have been lovely to make in this gorgeous office. I bought the paper with the flower at a local shop that was going out of business for an extreme discount I simply added the rest.

Also, more importantly, have you heard of Gilt the online discount shop? They carry everything from clothing to home wares not to mention shoes, accessories, and more. Well they also have a facebook page and for every like they will donate a dollar to Stand Up To Cancer. We have until Monday at 11:59 EST. I hate cancer and this is a great and easy way to give it a swift kick in the behind.

Cottage Living

Do you all happen to remember Lindsay Bierman's kitchen from the January/ February 2008 Cottage Living issue {second image}? Well I do and came across it again while doing my weekly real estate browsing. I know I am a complete nut, but then again at least I share my nuttiness with all of you right? It is one of my favorite kitchens and seems to have stayed mostly the same except for recovering the settee and maybe an art change. Still adore it and the rest of the home.

Remember I am always happy to put you in touch with the listing agent if you want more info. I will not in any way send out the actual listing and therefore will not share location. Thanks for understanding.

Getting Organized

Our "office" is also part of our keeping room right off the kitchen. I love the location, but with all our photography paperwork, bills, Ellie's new school paperwork, and being the place I blog from it is becoming one huge mess. Well, in order to contain all the necessary clutter I am thinking a bookcase is in order which will replace this side table that will then move into KJ's big boy room. I like the simple lines (and price tag) of this one from Ikea...

I then hope to get organized in a few of these lovely binders from Russell+Hazel...

I already own one of these clear file sorters but another may be in order. I love how simply changing the folders can change the whole look.

Over the desk I want to cover a huge bulletin board in some simple linen to hang photos of clients that we love, calendars, and other inspiration that comes along my way. Think Erika's office board of Urban Grace. A few plants will done the top of the shelf along with the same lamp although it now has a different shade.

I hope a few of these simple changes will get this mess in order. We are making an Atlanta trip to Ikea on Friday so hopefully this task will be done sooner than later.

Kristen Hutchins

I have posted this office from Kristen Hutchins before. It is completely chic to perfection. Well, I recently came across Raenovate, a blog that posts before & afters that featured the rest of this home. I am smitten to say the least and am quite impressed with the transformation. And by impressed I mean let me just pick up my jaw that fell to the floor. Before & After...

NYC Apartment

I know, I know this home has been featured over on Design*Sponge, but I really have become smitten with it. I try hard to be somewhat blog original, but sometimes I find things to be so inspiring I can't help myself. This is one of those times. That kitchen full of subway tile is such a dream. The inky black doors have me drooling. Oh, and don't even get me started on all the art work. You must check out Design*Sponge for more images and full write up of this home formerly owned by interior designer Ellen Hanson.

Office Inspiration

As I mentioned last week I am trying to get our new bigger office area in our keeping room put together. I need it to be functional, organized, and look good since all can see it. These I find quite inspiring. Hope to get it together by the end of the week. I can't do disarray for very long.

Outfit to Room...

This week I was sent an outfit to make into a room. I was ecstatic with her choice and it also gave me a post for today, ha! A way more fabulous version of my uniform...

Outfit to home office {you know the one that also happens to share your living space}...

{via Anthropologie}

This desk with it's clean lines and rustic charm would make any space proud.

{via Pottery Barn}

A comfy yet stunning office chair.

{via Highstreet Market}

A perfect way to sort all those bills.
{via 1st Dibs}

An alabaster lamp to add some pretty.

{via Pottery barn}

A couple of mint julep cups to hold all your pencils and pens.

{via Crate and Barrel}

A few of these would make hiding and sorting paper work easy. You just have to remember to clean them out every week.

{via here, here, here, and here}

A few books to have on hand piled nicely on the desk. These appeal to all my loves.
{via Shim and Sons}

Some cute push pins would help make the bulletin board framed in gold look extra chic rather than too "officey".

Can you tell I am trying to make our new desk area in our keeping room fit in more? I think something like this would work nicely.

A Chic Office

I came across Kristen Hutchins Design recently. Erin from Elements of Style always features such fabulous designers and this one really caught my eye. If we had a space for an office then this would be exactly what I would want. Love the gray walls, muted color palette, zebra rug, the ribbon trim on the curtains, really I could go on and on. Heck that is the same computer we have (although hubby is ready for an upgrade, ha) and I have a round mouse pad too, it really must be a sign for something.
