Here and There

Life according to my iPhone...

I had the privileged of designing a bridal luncheon. My only guidelines were to keep it simple, elegant, and organic in feel. So that is exactly what I did. Greens cut from a garden in varying off white pots. Disposable bamboo plates and cutlery. Mason jars to drink out of with rose gold straws. The napkins had the sweetest scallop and another touch of rose gold. Of course scattered candle light was a must atop a simple kraft paper runner.

The best part was being able to take home cut greens for around my own home.

A snippet of the corporate design job I've been working on while it was still in process. It's almost done!

I've had little time to work on the house so I can only pick and choose what to tackle next. The grossest, but one of the most satisfying tasks of the week was scrubbing out the powder room floors with this nifty little brush. The tile has pores throughout that were caked with grime and the grout was dark with things I probably don't want to think about. On the right you can see the difference of scrubbing out every little pore. Now to find a good sealer. Any recommendations?

It's Official

KJ is officially 7!!! The weekend was a blast. On Friday we had a huge class party at the park that could not have been more fun, Saturday my family came over for another party and on Sunday this little man flew a plane. As he said, this was the BEST weekend ever!!!

Being Auburn fans through and through he opted for an Auburn football party. I kept it very simple knowing the kiddos were going to be on the playground the majority of the time. The Mr made the cute cupcakes and we had an abundance of pizza. The tablecloth was a astroturf rug from Lowes and all the decor were things we already owned or borrowed from a friend. The Mr put together a little slide show of KJ pics and as it played through all the SEC fight songs came on. The party favor's were bouncy balls which was rather economical due to the amount I had to get and a were a huge hit. The bags, labels, balloons and buckets were all from Party City.

On his actual birthday we had a flight set up for him to fly over Auburn. He was in heaven!!! He is officially ready to be a pilot and I may have teared up seeing his little boy dreams come true. He was in complete awe and amazement. Even Ellie decided to take a turn and with her fear of heights this was pretty huge for her. Although my hand is still sore from the death grip she had on me the whole flight. HA.

A Garden Party

This past weekend Ellie turned 8!!! It's hard for me believe that I have an eight year old. What in the world! Anyhow, every year the kiddos pick a theme and this year Ellie wanted vegetables. I see our garden tending is rubbing off on her positively. Yay! Here are a few snippets from her big day...

I must say my favorite part of the whole party was ellie's cake. The Mr took on the task and he and KJ came up with this! I was rather impressed. I also hear it tasted amazing!!!

Throughout the house I made watering can bouquets with flowers, vegetables and herbs from the garden along with roses left over from a friend who is a florist. She sold them to me on the cheap. Talk about perfect timing!

Of course, worms had to make an apperance. It was a vegetable garden party after all.

I always try to include at least one fun activity for the kiddos to do. It keeps them busy and helps with keeping their rooms from being pulled apart bit by bit. We went with decorating pots to grow herbs. Loved getting to see everyone's personality really shine here. A few just splattered paint everywhere while others were meticulous to the very last detail.

As everyone left they received dirt, seeds, and a gardening set to take home with them. The two babies of the group got tiny watering cans that were a tad safer.

I must say I really lucked out when target marked all their summer gardening supplies down to 75% off. It enabled me to go a little above and beyond for take away gifts on our budget. I also found the water cans for the bouquets at Target too and again they were 75% off!  Thankfully everything we used to make this party a true gardening party we will be able to use years to come. I used a coupon for all the pots at Micheal's and they ended up being around a dollar a piece. Not too shabby.
